To Nick's wonderful family,

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I was fortunate enough to spend two wonderful summers with Nick at FD. He taught me to loosen up and he truly gave me a new outlook on life. He mentioned me in his July 10, 2009 post as the girl who cried the whole way home from camp (I am in the first photo, on the left-- black hair, gray/white striped sweater). Those tears don't even compare to the ones that have been flowing for the past hour since I read this heart wrenching news. Nick had such a zest for life that I respected a great deal. His facebook statuses, what with their ups and downs, always kept me on edge and, in turn, always kept Nick on my mind. I am so sorry for the pain cancer has caused you and can only hope and pray for the best for your family and all others suffering from cancer's brutalities. Please know that Nick had the most positive and strong impact on me, and he will never be forgotten.

With love,

Rachel Milbauer Cohen

Nick is my hero. He was a cancer fighter like no other. He was not going to let this get him down. I will never forget the standing ovation he got at LH graduation. It was an honor to get pics of him afterwards. He was loved by all. My son & I are very saddened & will forever feel blessed to have known him. God Bless you Steph Hanlin (Shawns Mom)

Dear Lori & Family,
I'm greatly saddened by your loss and have always been inspired by Nick and your family's fight against cancer. I will miss Nick dearly. He was always an inspiration to me and I remember always being excited to see him at the FD Ball or at the one week long camp we spent together. He was "my boy"! He's the participant that all my friends and family heard me speak about. He will be missed by many. Sending my love and best during this hard time.
Much love
