My Week

Nick here....

The past week I have had some fun. I went to a Jazz game with my neighbor, and that was a lot of fun. The Jazz won the Heat and it was a pretty close game. Shaq is huge! Also, I was given 2 tickets from my good friend Jennie, to a local Ultimate Fight held at the Energy Solutions Center. I didn't realize how good the tickets were untill my buddy Joey and I got there. They were VIP seats right next to the cage. It was insane! You could hear the leather smacking the guys face and you could just feel the pure power and force used in the sport. It was a great experience. Thank you Jennie!
Also my best friend Rob came to visit, who lives in Wyoming now because he makes big money working for the mine there. We had a lot of fun and had a lot to talk about. I might drive to visit him next week depending on the date of my PET Scan that I have to take for my visit to New York, where I will meet with a Rhabdomyosarcoma doctor who is supposedly the best out there. We are going to see what he has to say about treatments and surgery as a second oppinion. We will also be going to New York for vacation, where we will get to see the Islanders play (NHL) and a Broadway show. Hopefully we will also have time to go ice skating at the Rockafeller Center.
Well...... I think thats all for now. I hope I haven't left anything out. Ill post more for sure after my trip to Wyoming or my vacation to New York.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
Much Love,
Nick

Hi Nick, remember me (bald guy in Alaska)?

I read that you saw a bald eagle and it reminded me of how much I take them for granted here. Sometimes there will be a dozen of them in a single tree. They're all over the place in the coastal areas where there are a lot of fish scraps to scavenge. However, I only remember seeing one of them in the 30 years I lived in Colorado.

Your Aunt Chris sent an e-mail a while back and when I went back to look for it I realized I had missed your Elfyourself. What a riot! I think I spent ten hours or so last night making and sending elves all over the place. I'll paste one of them here and see if it works.

I'm a little envious of your trip to NYC. I spent a lot of time at the National Fire Academy in Pennsylvania but for some reason I always ended up going to DC or Gettysburg but never made it to New York, and I am kicking myself for it now.

I'm leaving in half an hour for some island that is a 2-hour boat ride in to Prince William Soune (where the Exxon Valdez had a little mishap). I am going to learn how to babysit oysters because the owner needs to return to civilization for a few weeks to take care of some personal affairs. He lives on some sort of a barge by himself, but that's about all I know about it. It doesn't pay anything but I owe a great deal of gratitude to the person who asked me about it, so I couldn't tell her no. I will return next week but I don't know when I will actually cover for him. He's going to show me how to operate a little boat in the ocean so I can scoot around from island to island and go deer hunting. I've never even seen a deer in Alaska, so that may be pretty cool. I really don't know how I will do when the time comes for me to be out there by myself with no internet! Either I'll find peace and solitude or I'll end up running through the woods naked, howling at the moon. A rescue helicopter crashed in the area a few days ago but the weather has been so bad that they haven't been able to find it. The area is so huge they will probably never find it. I don't know any of the crew but I have worked on that helicopter. Unfortunately, those things have a horrible crash rate. Very sad...

This blog of yours is extremely cool but I just realized there are two things I don't like about it. 1) there is no spellcheck, so please forgive all errors, and 2) I can't tell how much I have written but I am notorious for droning on and on, so I apologize for what is likely a very long, very boring letter.

As always, I marvel at the strength and determination of yourself and your family. In my book, you are a true hero. What are the chances of talking Carly and yourself in to attending the reunion next summer in Nebraska? I hope to make it. Omaho is gorgeous in August. Trust me...

Hi Nick,
Kris and I just read your most recent blog. Jealous that you got to see a UFC fight.... Probably really exciting and a little bloody. Pretty cool that you get to go to NYC. I've always wanted to go around Christmas time. Do you know what play you're going to see? If you can I recommend Spamalot, its awesome: http://www.ticketsnow.com/Theater_Tickets/Monty_Python_Spamalot_Tickets.html?VID=1545

Well, just finishing up finals this quarter; can't wait till its over. Are you guys getting any snow yet? Definitely want to try to make it out in a month or two. Tell everyone I say hi.
Love, Jess

Hey Nick,
It has been awhile since we last talked. I'm going to start with my transplant on the 11th of December and will be at the Bone Marrow Unit at the U of U Hospital. I start radiation on Tuesday and I'm going to get there early at about 7:30am to come say hi to the nurses and you with some gifts. If your still sleeping I will just give it to one of the your nurses and make sure you get it. I know you have received some new news and I pray and hope everything will be o.k. I enjoyed hang out in your room and talking with you and your Dad. You've got a great family. Tell them hi. well I better get going. Keep in touch and I'll say what you said to me once (Cowboy up!) and keep on keeping on!
Sincerely, Harrison

Good Morning Nick,
You really started something with "Elf Yourself" - Stan also spent hours pasting pictures on those "dancing fools" and sending them out over the internet. I expect you were a recipient of them too. Today in my daily Bible reading there were two verses that made me reflect on you.
The first:
All the days planned for me were written in your book before I was one day old. Psalm 139:16

I'm excited just reading about the things you are doing and have planned to do. God is good.

The next:
Mercy, peace, and love be yours richly. Jude 1:2

I couldn't say that any better and I pray that sincerely.
Love, aunt Chris

Hi Nick and Everyone....
I was upset to hear that there is another tumor at the local site and that you need to undergo surgery. It must be so frustrating and dissapointing after all you have already been through. I'm glad to hear that you are going to New York for a 2nd Opinion and having some fun while you are there. It is the best time of year to go...It will be so beautifully decorated! I've always wanted to take Dani there for Christmas.
I'm sorry that I haven't been commenting much lately - I bought a new home and finally have my office set up with high speed internet. Now I will keep up-to-date once again.
My continued positive energy, love and support are with you. Please send my love to your Mom, Lee, Todd, Carly and Kelsey. May you all have a Christmas full of peace and light! Love, Beci :)

Hi Nick
Between your posting and all the comments attached, I realized how many friends you have. I then reflected on how many more friends you have through Jesus. Jesus is a Kinsman to all. For this I give thanks. May the blood of Jesus cover everyone who reads your blog. Love, aunt Chris
