Day 5

Mom here again...

Last night Nick had lots of company - a couple of cutie pies from high school dropped by (no, Rob was not one of them) and the whole family came in to watch the Jazz beat Houston. I brought in Indian food for us from our favorite restaurant and it was fabulous.

Although chemo didn't start until almost midnight and Nick endured countless interruptions throughout the night, he awoke with feeling pretty good. His labs are great - the only reaction he has to the chemo is a little sore throat. I pulled his hair today and it all stayed on his head - so the mohawk remains intact another day!

Nick will have his dad stay with him at the hospital tonight and plans on having several friends up to hang out in Huntsman's finest private entertainment game room. Once labs are drawn tomorrow morning and all is well, he is COMING HOME! Scooter has remained faithful, sleeping under Nick's bed waiting patiently for him to return.

His spirits are up as his eye and cheek are visibly getting better. More to follow tomorrow...

Hi Nick,
This is Christina Andrews writing (Richard Andrews' wife in California). Chris has been keeping us all in the loop about your health and spirits and we have been praying for you often. Thank you (and your mom) for starting this blog so we can keep fresh on your progress. Glad to hear you'll be able to head home soon and also encouraged by your positive outlook. It takes many people years and years to have such a mature perspective on life and trials that come their way.
Love,
Christina, Richard, Henry (almost 5), and Georgia (just turned 3)

Hi Nick,
Pastor Don asked me to share during worship service tomorrow the good news you received on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - almost three years after this posting. In preparing for my testimony (really your testimony and God's grace) I wanted to find the poem I had posted on this blogspot early on in your treatment. In checking posted comments, I realized I had never posted on this date - so now I am. I also found the poem "Cancer is so limited". You have proven that statement correct.
Love, aunt Chris

Dear Nick
This day (Thursday - August 26, 2010) is almost over - I did start it with prayer but didn't make it to the computer until now to post a blessing for you. It's amazing how one's heart can be heavy and defeated when first waking up - makes one wonder what does go on in our "dream state". My Bible reading took me to 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 "Paul's Thanksgiving after Affliction".
May He who rescued you from so deadly a peril as posted on this blogspot beginning in May 2007 continue to rescue you; on God I have set my hope that He will rescue you again in 2010.
Love and daily prayers, aunt Chris
